Project information

The "Geological Time Machine" project at the Natural History Center of Serbia in Svilajnac represents a new approach to education and interaction with visitors, using the latest technology to bring the history of the Earth and the evolution to life.

Description

Through three thematically connected sections - "Solar System", "Journey Through Geological History", and "Evolution of Hominids", visitors are given a unique opportunity to go step by step through the key moments of cosmic and geological past, all the way to the world we know today.

The first section, "Solar System", consists of two separate activations: "Spacecraft" and "Solar Worlds". While the first activation gives the impression of floating in a spacecraft, the "Solar Worlds" activation provides information about the planets of the Solar System through interaction with visitors, using projection mapping and interactive panels, bringing the walls of the Natural History Center to life.

"Journey Through Geological History" consists of mapped projections on the walls and floor with motion detection, creating an immersive experience for visitors. The animated projection consists of several segments and covers the development of planet Earth: starting from the earliest known organisms in the Archaic, through the Paleozoic and Mesozoic, this immersive room tells the story of the origin of human beings and the world as we know it today.

The last section also consists of two activations: "Hominid Face in the Mirror", which allows visitors to transform their faces into the faces of Neanderthals reacting to their mimicry using Meta Human technology. The second activation of this section is "Hologram of Prehistoric Man", within which, with the help of hologram technology, we create content about Homo erectus, the first prehistoric man to light a fire.

The "Geological Time Machine" project transcends conventional museum paradigms, providing visitors with a unique opportunity for active engagement in the narrative of our planet's history. Its significance extends beyond technological prowess, as it plays a crucial role in fostering a profound understanding of Earth's past, igniting curiosity, and leaving a lasting impact on educational experiences. This project is poised to set a new standard, redefining the role of museums as dynamic hubs of knowledge and exploration.

The permanent exhibition will be available for visitors from the beginning of April 2024.

The Natural History Center of Serbia in Svilajnac is a museum complex that offers a unique fusion of science, education, entertainment, and tourism, setting it apart in this region of Europe.

The objective of the complex was to establish the center as the scientific hub of the region, bringing together scholars and researchers from both Serbia and worldwide. Through diverse activities, the center aims to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experiences, fostering new scientific discoveries in the realm of natural sciences. Its allure stems from the harmonious integration of a vast exhibition space and an open-air dino-park.
